At Orangeburg-Wilkinson, a predominantly African-American high school in South Carolina, cameras follow staff and students. A new principal is attempting to increase grades and discipline, but his first day is clouded by a mass brawl and the possibility of more conflict.

A high-achieving student starts applying to colleges, but her family cannot afford for her to attend. From AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL: Six-part documentary series filmed over the course of one year following the staff and students at a predominantly African-American high school in South Carolina.
