Quiver Distribution, in a partnership with Chimera Pictures and Outta the Bloc, has announced the virtual theatrical and North American digital debut of writer/director Guy Moshe’s “LX 2048,” a near-future dystopian drama about one father’s search for a way forward for his family before his time runs out and a clone takes his place. James D’Arcy (Dunkirk, “Broadchurch”, Marvel’s “Agent Carter”) headlines the cast as a man who has resisted humanity’s exodus to virtual reality. With his death fast approaching and a clone ready to step in as husband and father, Adam struggles to find a way out of his situation, to protect his wife (Anna Brewster, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, “Versailles”) and children. The cast is rounded out by frequent Spike Lee collaborator and Tony Award nominee Delroy Lindo (Malcolm X, Da 5 Bloods, “The Good Fight”) and BAFTA winner Gina McKee (“Our Friends in the North”, “The Borgias”, Phantom Thread).

BMX Riders And Street Artists Team Up To Fight For Its Survival In “ROM Boys: 40 Years Of Rad”

When a tragedy strikes the world’s most unique skatepark, a group of old school skaters, BMX riders and street artists team up to fight for its survival.

Fifteen years in the making with archive material going back forty years, this feature length documentary looks at a totally unique aspect of British sub-culture – the first generation of skateboarders and BMX freestyle riders in the world’s most unique skatepark. Built in a suburb of east London in the late 1970’s, Rom is the only skatepark in the world to have official historic protection. The film looks at the users of the park and not only what it means to them but the influence it has had on their lives. Shot in full DCI 4K and Featuring over 30 interviews with architects, historians, entrepreneurs, street and graffiti artists, professional skaters and BMX riders as well as the old school locals who have been visiting the park since it opened; this is the first time a feature length documentary has taken an in-depth look at this scene, and its participants, from a uniquely British perspective. When the park suffers a major tragedy during the middle of filming, the story then shifts focus to how these skaters and riders rally together to try and save the park from closure for a new generation of Rom Boys AND Girls.

Produced and directed by Matt Harris, and premiering in September at the prestigious Paris Surf and Skate festival, “ROM BOYS : 40 YEARS OF RAD” arrives on digital October 6 from 1091 Films.

The Award-Winning “WIVES OF THE SKIES” Flies Home To Digital September 29

Winner of 24 awards, including Best Film at the New York Cinematography Awards and Best Original Screenplay at the Indie X Film Festival, Wives of The Skies is a romantic dramedy, set in 1965, starring two stewardesses, Fran and Marcy from Fine Air, a well-appointed airline. One evening after work, at their stewardess’ hotel, they befriend Derrick, a British photojournalist who wants to interview them as “subjects” for his “documentary film”.

As Fran and Marcy are interviewed, they are revealed as very different than Derrick hoped for or could possibly have expected… As they get to know each other, Wives Of The Skies makes a contemporary socio-cultural statement regarding the meme of “the good girl, drawn bad”. Wives of The Skies clarifies the impact of the overarching “men’s gaze” which objectifies women as carnal sex objects men seek, while they look for love… along the way, addressing the primitive issue of Trust vs. Mistrust, Wives of The Skies displays the Japanese art of Kinbaku.

A soaring success on the festival circuit, the short film is directed by Honey Lauren and features a superlative cast including Rachel Alig, Maddison Bullock, Sebastian Fernandez, and Drew Brandon Jones.

FRONTLINE Follows Three Children In Ohio During The COVID-19 Pandemic In “Growing Up Poor In America”

The documentary, “Growing Up Poor in America”, follows three children in Ohio. Them along with their families live in the battleground state as the COVID-19 pandemic amplifies.

Their struggle to stay afloat is real. In early 2020, it was estimated that almost 12 million children in America were living in poverty; a burden disproportionately borne by Black and Latino kids, but then came the coronavirus.

Director Jezza Neumann, who made 2012’s “Poor Kids,” once again delves into how poverty impacts children. As the pandemic continues, the presidential election approaches and America reckons with racism, FRONTLINE offers a powerful look at child poverty in the time of COVID-19 told from the perspective of the children themselves.

The film is supported by the WNET “Chasing the Dream” initiative. Watch the full documentary below.

“DTF” Takes To The Skies On VOD September 15th

Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company, in a partnership with Jump Seat Productions, has announced the Digital HD and Cable VOD launch of director Al Bailey’s DTF, a documentary about one pilot’s search for love and sex through Tinder and the friendly skies. DTF will premiere at LA’s Dances With Films before a VOD launch in the United States. DTF will be available to rent or own September 15th on Amazon, iTunes, Comcast, Spectrum, Vudu and more.

A raw and audacious fly-on-the-wall expose documentary on the life of a long-haul airline captain, DTF charts filmmaker Al Bailey, who follows a widowed airline pilot around the planet as he searches to find new love via the dating app Tinder. The well-intended quest spirals into a controversial cautionary tale of one man’s addictive and outlandish behavior in a bubble of vice and depravity that conflicts with his consummate professionalism.

Against The Backdrop Of Oceana County, MI And A Dangerous Love Triangle, “Up On The Glass” Offers A Timely Discussion Of Class Dynamics In America

Director Kevin Del Princip’s unnerving thriller UP ON THE GLASS, starring Chase Fain (On The Rocks) and Chelsea Kurtz (“The Flash”), will be released On Demand, Digital and Blu-ray this September through Gravitas Ventures.

Reminiscent of the thriller THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY, UP ON THE GLASS is about a wanderer named Jack DiMercurio who secretly desires the life and wife of his more affluent friend, Andy Shelton. Past tensions surface between the two men during an informal reunion at Andy’s cottage on Lake Michigan. One heinous act allows Jack to draw close to Andy’s wife Liz, but Jack finds living Andy’s life is a dangerous lie.

“Kevin creates a palpable sense of dread that permeates throughout this film. We look forward to unveiling it to North American audiences this fall,” said Tony Piantedosi, Vice President of Acquisitions at Gravitas Ventures.

Director, co-writer, and producer Kevin Del Principe expressed, “Growing up in a blue-collar family, the idea that pursuit of higher education would lead to a better life was imbued in me. For so many of my generation, this has not been the case due to a variety of economic and social factors. The main character in UP ON THE GLASS, Jack, has tried to rise in America but it has not worked out as he’s hoped. Subsequently, he feels lost, distanced from his peers and from the elite institutions that allowed him entry but have not enabled him to climb in them accordingly. Characters like Jack deserve a voice because he embodies so many who have strived but been left behind. For Jack, the pressure he feels due to his class situation and the lack of trust he has in institutions leads to devastating consequences.”

Producer, co-writer, and actor Nikki Brown added, “The Midwest is all too often portrayed as flyover territory. The reality is that the region is vibrant both in urban and rural areas. Having been raised in Grand Rapids and spent summers on the shores of Lake Michigan in Oceana County, I have a deep appreciation for this area and its people. I’m excited to share the beauty of this place and community in UP ON THE GLASS.”

The husband and wife creative team behind UP ON THE GLASS, Kevin Del Principe and Nikki Brown, now Nikki Del Principe, first met as students at University of Southern California’s MFA Writing for Screen and Television program. One of their points of connection was that they both hail from the Midwest—Kevin from outside Buffalo, New York and Nikki from Grand Rapids, Michigan. After producing two short films together, the creative duo founded their production company, Save Them Wild Dogs, to tell stories overlooked by mainstream media, particularly in the Midwest, and made the leap into their first feature with UP ON THE GLASS.

UP ON THE GLASS was shot in and around the lakeshore town of Shelby, Michigan where Nikki spent summers as a child. A year after shooting the film, Kevin and Nikki married in this same town. They recently relocated from Los Angeles to Memphis, Tennessee in order to participate in the growing indie filmmaking community there with the intention of expanding Save Them Wild Dogs in the Midsouth.

UP ON THE GLASS stars Chase Fein (On the Rocks, Hard Surfaces) and co-stars Chelsea Kurtz (The Flash, Scandal, Longmire, Variant) and Hunter Cross (Love Finds You in Valentine, Suburban Swingers Club).

UP ON THE GLASS will be available On Demand, DVD and Blu-ray September 8.

UP ON THE GLASS is available to pre-order today: https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/id1525051329
